Based on the German Mosel style of Spatlese, Framingham Select Riesling conveys the very purity of the grape under Andrew Brown's masterful stewardship. Delicate and light on its feet, with naturally low
alcohol and great tension between residual sugar and acidity.

Framingham Select Riesling 2023
Reviews
Cameron Douglas MS: 94/100. Aromas and flavours of lemon and lime flowers, there are floral highlights, some orange peel and white fruit spice highlights. Crisp and just dry with just enough residual sweetness to notice before the laser acid-line catches the senses. As the wine becomes more ambient the sweetness increases, yet the overall impact remains balanced and lengthy with flavours of apples and citrus, a touch of sherbet and roses. A lovely example, perfect as an aperitif or with fresh crab fritters.
Erin Larkin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 92/100. ...piercing and sweet, concentrated and agile. In the mouth, the green lime, apple and pear fruit carry a surprising amount of plumpness - I expected more razor-sharp entrails of flavor. It has a cushioned, plush palate, but all is in balance with the sugar and acidity (just). Lovely wine here! Drink Date: 2024-2033.
Tasting Note
Framingham Select Riesling is inspired by the classic German "Spätlese" style. A gorgeous and delicately floral nose with suggestions of ripe citrus fruits and flowers and green apples.Luscious and full flavoured with succulent honeyed sweetness and exceptionally pure fruit. Concentrated and elegant palate with green apple, orange citrus and some mineral stone-like textures. Tense, weightless and juicy finish.

The beauty of Riesling: The Riesling grape is perhaps the most versatile of all, and can be interpreted in a number of different styles around the world from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. The German Spätlese style is the inspiration for Framingham Select Riesling. Marlborough's combination of stony soil and cool climate provides regionally distinctive, delicate Riesling flavours which develop slowly during the growing season, as well as a good acid backbone, which is essential to this style. This is a relatively limited production wine, and, although approachable on release, is a suitable candidate for long-term ageing in the cellar for those who enjoy the more complex flavours of bottle aged Riesling.
Wine making: Selective hand harvest of golden bunches on 27th of March and 10th of April at an average 20.5 brix (85 Öechsle), from the “front” old vines block (92%) and the back spur block (8%). Bunches were pressed whole with the resultant juices being fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel with a neutral yeast to promote vineyard transparency. Ferments were stopped at the desired balance, left on light lees for five months then bottled.
