Reviews
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: 94/100. Wonderfully styled and gorgeously elegant with ripe stone fruit, fig, vanilla, roasted cashew and brioche characters. The palate delivers excellent weight and fleshy texture, wonderfully complemented by plush mouthfeel and beautifully infused acidity. Generous and harmonious with lovely refinement. At its best: now to 2030.
Cameron Douglas MS: 93/100 & Hawke’s Bay Annual Chardonnay Collection Vintage 2022. An enticing and familiar bouquet with fresh white peach and apple scents layered between nut and toasty barrel aromas. Youthful, vibrant and complex. A satin cream texture as the wine touches the palate then burst of energy from acidity and barrel tannins followed by fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. Plush and new, will age well with best drinking from 2024 through 2029+.
Bob Campbell, MW (The Real Review): 92/100.
Tasting Note:
Ripe stone fruit aromas of peach and nectarine, with notes of ripe mandarin freshly baked brioche, nougat, vanilla and a hint of clove, add to the complexity and interest on the nose. A silky attack with sweet fruit flavours of peach nectarine and clove in the rich textural mid palate and with hints of nougat and vanilla balanced with fine oak and lingering grapefruit citrus finish.

Additional information

Vineyard: Paritua Vineyard block, adjacent to the winery. The Paritua Willow Chardonnay is made from very low yielding vines from specially selected areas of the vineyard.
Name: This gracious weeping willow stands tall in the corner of Paritua's Chardonnay block. The winery named the Paritua Chardonnay ‘Willow’ after her cascading branches and slender leaves. The mystic properties of willow trees feature globally in mythology as a symbol of the moon, water, grief, healing, and everlasting life. The willow tree's association with the moon comes from the lunar influence on water, which suits Paritua's biodynamic sensibilities perfectly. Aptly, as if it was bowing, a willow tree symbolizes humility.
