About No.1 Family Estate

New Zealand's first winery specialising in sparkling wine (Méthode Traditionelle). Adele and Daniel Le Brun, pioneers of the Méthode Traditionelle in New Zealand for over 40 years, founded their family winery No.1 Family Estate in July 1997.

Daniel Le Brun, who comes from 12 generations of Champagne winemakers, is deeply rooted in history and tradition. The first mention of a Le Brun planting vines in Champagne dates back to 1684, and the year 1791, the year the Le Bruns first produced wine in Champagne, is chiselled into the historic family press.

Today, the family winery No.1 is dedicated exclusively to the production of high-quality Méthode Traditionelle. His team produces his wines in Marlborough according to the traditional method of his home country.

The No.1 winery and vineyards are located in the Wairau Valley in Marlborough. The combination of soils and climate, which is consistent every year, reminds Daniel of Champagne in its best vintages.
